Hello! I’m Sue

Sue Thayer graduated from BOCES School for Cosmetology and received her hairdresser’s license in 1976. In 1982,  Sue began working as a stylist at Regis in Marketplace Mall. During her 13 years at Regis Hairstylists, she attended many haircutting, perm, hair coloring, and motivational classes. Sue excelled when it came to hair coloring and was invited by Regis to spend a week on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills.  She trained with the hairstylist Christoph. He taught her his techniques and trained her on the newest styles. During her time at Regis, the television show Shades Of Gray, asked Sue to discuss her hair techniques for various types of hair, such as thinning hair, ethnic hair, and graying models. Sue was offered a management position at a new salon called Henrietta’s Fine Hair Salon. Sue felt that this change was right for her because it allowed her to offer more to her clients. Sue saw an opportunity to be able to offer more when she decided to embark on an education in sugaring. She received her license for Alexandria Sugaring, a hair removal system that is different from waxing or electrolysis. Over the next 5 years, Sue’s clientele continued to grow and she continued working at the Henrietta Fine Hair Salon until the owners decided to sell the business.

Sue has an entrepreneurial spirit and decided to take a leap and start her own business. She rented a station in an established salon down the street, and her business became Sue’s Finishing Touch. With making such a big decision, comes a lot of risks. However, Sue’s intuition served her well and her business began to flourish. In November of 2008, the owner of the salon decided to sell the building. Sue was ready to become a full-time salon owner and made another career-altering decision. After a renovation to the interior, complete with installation of pedicure stations, shampoo and hair stations, she feels that her salon is still a work in progress.

I am very thankful for the opportunity to create my own business for hair care, nails, pedicures, sugaring/waxing, and skincare in an environment that is both friendly, enjoyable, and a great environment for both my staff and customers alike”.
